MI Sponsored Symposium at the Micronutrient Forum Global Conference

Women’s Nutrition Now: Improving access to health and nutrition for pregnant women

The Micronutrient Initiative is pleased to extend an invitation to join our sponsored symposium – Women’s Nutrition Now: Improving access to health and nutrition for pregnant women – at the Micronutrient Forum Global Conference.

Participate with us, alongside our implementing partners, in an engaging discussion and learn how a community-based approach improved the quality of antenatal, birth and postnatal care for pregnant women and their newborns.

The symposium will revolve around an MI project implemented in four African communities – Afar (Ethiopia)Kakamega (Kenya)Kolda (Senegal) and  Zinder (Niger) – in collaboration with Amref Health Africa, the Maternal, Newborn  Health Initiative in Ethiopia Partnership (MaNHEP) and University of California, Davis (UCDavis), with leads taken by each country’s Ministry of Health.

  • Insights on how the project, funded by Global Affairs Canada, tested a variety of community-based models of engagement and service delivery to increase maternal and newborn health and nutrition.
  • Findings on how an integrated package-of-care increased access and use of essential health services for pregnant women and newborns.
  • Details on how you can take a community-based approach in hard-to-reach settings to improve health and nutrition for women.
  • Discover how this research project supports and demonstrates global priority actions, including promote equity, increase evidence-base and integrate nutrition.
